Did you know, Robina Town Centre diverts 133 tonnes in organic waste matter from General Waste every year?

With our partner NUGrow our organic waste is collected from receptacle units located within the Kitchens and LG1 Fresh Food precinct. It is then shipped to facilities in west Brisbane where it is converted into compost that is then provided to local farmers to nurture and grow their crops.

Our Organic Waste project has been in place since 2017. Following a successful trail in The Kitchens precinct, the program was extended to include the remaining Centre in 2018. Over this time with our partners, we have diverted 665 tonnes of organic material from landfill.

Fun Fact! 1.5 Million litres of greasy waste is recycled from Robina Town Centre annually through our partner Cleanaway.

Of this, 75% (900,000 litres) is brown water - which is shipped to local plant for cleaning and treating. That’s the equivalent of more than 2.5 million cups of tea!

The remaining 25% is sent to our friends at NUGrow for processing and again is converted high-grade composts, premium soils and soil conditioners.
