BreastScreen Queensland

BreastScreen Queensland has been providing Queensland women with quality breast cancer screening services for more than 30 years. We are the only nationally accredited breast screening provider in Queensland offering free screening and follow-up assessment, to eligible women, using the latest digital mammography technology. Your breast screen will be provided by a female health professional and your images read independently by a minimum of two specialist doctors.

The aim of the BreastScreen Queensland program is to reduce the impact of a breast cancer diagnosis and ensure you have the best outcome possible through early detection. We provide a complete service, up to and including a breast cancer diagnosis or referral for open biopsy. Our goal is to screen more than 70 percent of Queensland women aged between 50 and 74 every two years, as the evidence of screening benefit is strongest in this age group. Women aged 40 to 49, and 75 years and older, are also eligible to attend this free service. Your appointment will take 15-30 minutes, can be conveniently booked online or over the phone, and does not need a doctor's referral. 

BreastScreen Queensland began in 1991 with a vision to build a network covering all corners of the State. Today, our network includes 11 screening and assessment services, additional screening clinics, and mobile vans, which provide access to free breast screening in over 260 Queensland locations. 

Over the years, BreastScreen Queensland has performed more than 4.7 million screening mammograms and detected more than 19,000 breast cancers. Our commitment to quality health care has remained unchanged as our breast screening program strives to continuously improve services for Queensland women.
